Saints close to perfect, even if they are still the No. 3 seed

NEW ORLEANS — It doesn’t seem right that the New Orleans Saints are still stuck in third place in the NFC after a performance like that.

But the Saints (11-3) still have a realistic path to the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. And no matter where they wind up, it obviously bodes well that they are capable of the kind of excellence they displayed in their 34-7 rout of the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

It was as close to perfect as it gets in the NFL. And quite frankly, it was the kind of complete performance New Orleans had been seeking all season.

Drew Brees was an absolute master on the night when he broke Peyton Manning’s career touchdowns record, completing an incredible 29 of 30 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns. Michael Thomas made another argument in his MVP candidacy with 12 catches for 128 yards and a touchdown. And perhaps most importantly, the Saints’ defense responded in a huge way after last week’s 48-46 loss to the San Francisco 49ers — despite losing key defensive linemen Marcus Davenport and Sheldon Rankins to season-ending injuries and starting safety Vonn Bell to a short-term injury.

NFC playoff picture: Understanding the Saints’ chances of No. 1 or No. 2 seed (it’s not over yet)

The New Orleans Saints are now the NFC’s No. 3 seed after the Green Bay Packers topped the Minnesota Vikings, 23-10, on Monday night.

And with that, the Saints’ chances at being the No. 1 seed decreased exponentially — but not entirely.

Here’s the full seeding as of post-MNF on Monday:

  1. San Francisco 49ers (12-3)
  2. Green Bay Packers (12-3)
  3. New Orleans Saints (12-3)
  4. Philadelphia Eagles (8-7)
  5. Seattle Seahawks (11-4)
  6. Minnesota Vikings (10-5)

Sideline Pass New Years Eve Party !

The Who Dat Nation would like to help support a great friend of the Who Dat Nation, Jennifer Hale, with a great cause, please check out their NYE party !

We’re throwing an all-inclusive New Year’s Eve Party at the Pavilion of Tomorrow with the best rooftop views of the city’s fireworks display to ring in the new decade! Not only will this black tie optional extravaganza be the perfect beginning to 2020, but proceeds will establish the Nancy Parker Memorial Scholarship. We know that New Orleans suffered a great loss when we lost Nancy in August. She was a consummate supporter of Sideline Pass, and with the blessing of her husband Glynn, we hope to help her legacy live on with this scholarship. The Nancy Parker Memorial Scholarship will be awarded by Sideline Pass to a Louisiana student attending a Louisiana college or university. Investing in our future and honoring one of our trailblazers…what better way to celebrate the new year? Please join us on Dec 31! Tickets available at www.nolanye2020.com!

Alvin Kamara gets his ‘burst back’ just in time for Saints’ playoff run

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — It’s not as simple as flipping a switch.

But it sure looked like that’s exactly what Alvin Kamara did halfway through the New Orleans Saints’ 38-28 victory at Tennessee on Sunday.
“Yeah, a little bit,” Kamara agreed after he scored his first two touchdowns since Week 3 — a 40-yard run in the third quarter, followed by a 1-yard run on the next drive. “Just to get that burst back. Just get it back going. Like I said last week, I think it’s just a race every week to be as close to 100% as you can, so that’s what I’ve been trying to do.”

Kamara acknowledged that he has been trying to get that sensation back ever since he missed two games with knee and ankle injuries in Weeks 7-8.

New Orleans Saints Wide Receiver Ted Ginn Jr During National Anthem Is a Must-Watch

95% of the NFL is good. We should start featuring those guys instead.

Posted by Paul Hogan on Wednesday, November 27, 2019
National Anthem performances at NFL games have certainly had their share controversy over the past few seasons. This season the drama seems to have subsided, at least from a coverage standpoint.
Football fan Paul Hogan of Pittsburgh noticed Saints receiver Ted Ginn Jr during TV highlights of the Saints / Panthers game from November 24th. Oddly, the highlights showed Ginn during the Star-Spangled Banner prior to kickoff. Luckily for us, Hogan captured the moment and shared it on social media. He even did the replay in slow motion so we could all clearly see Ginn’s actions.
