New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr admitted that he was “livid” after his team’s 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans, and video on social media showed him shouting as he came to the sideline late in the game following a failed drive.
The footage shows Carr angrily yelling as he interacts with offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, but it doesn’t necessarily show him directing the anger at Carmichael.
On Monday, Carr explained what was taking place during the heated moment.
“I apologized to Pete on the airplane. I was talking to Pete, but I wasn’t talking about Pete,” Carr said. “Pete and I know exactly what I was talking about, and why. When the game is on the line, that’s when you have to be on every detail of your assignment. I was a little upset at some of those things. it had nothing to do with Pete. He just happened to be the one that walked up when I was a little angry.”
