The New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement with free agent defensive end Alex Brown, team spokesman Greg Bensel and Brown’s agent Joel Segal confirmed.

Segal said it’s a two-year deal.

Brown played with the Chicago Bears for the past eight seasons.

Brown, 30, was a fourth-round selection by the Bears in 2002 out of Florida. He was scheduled to make $5 million this season.

In Chicago, he played in 127 games, including 107 starts, totaling 483 tackles, 43 1/2 sacks, five interceptions, 16 forced fumbled and 11 fumble recoveries. He also blocked three kicks.

Last season Brown had 39 tackles, six sacks, two pass breakups, one fumble recovery and five tackles for losses. He started every game.
