Utica native Will Smith, a member of the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, was honored Thursday by Oneida County.

“Will Smith of Utica has shown greatness as an outstanding football player with the world champion New Orleans Saints of the NFL, building on a career that began here in Oneida County during his days at Utica’s Proctor High School,” Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. said in a proclamation naming Saturday as “Will Smith Day” in Oneida County.

Smith is in town this weekend for the “Where There’s A Will, There’s A Way” Foundation’s second annual Evening of All-Stars dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at Danielle’s Banquet Specialists on Seneca Turnpike.
