INDIANAPOLIS — — Derek Carr spent the past week answering questions about his sideline demeanor.
New Orleans’ quarterback had nothing to apologize for Sunday.
Carr masterfully carved up Indianapolis’ young, depleted secondary, Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara scored two touchdowns apiece, and the Saints beat the Colts 38-27 to move into a share of the NFC South lead.
New Orleans (4-4) ended a two-game skid, and Carr got a chance to move past the criticism he took for scolding teammates and yelling at offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael during a Week 7 loss to Jacksonville.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr admitted that he was “livid” after his team’s 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans, and video on social media showed him shouting as he came to the sideline late in the game following a failed drive.
The footage shows Carr angrily yelling as he interacts with offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, but it doesn’t necessarily show him directing the anger at Carmichael.
On Monday, Carr explained what was taking place during the heated moment.
“I apologized to Pete on the airplane. I was talking to Pete, but I wasn’t talking about Pete,” Carr said. “Pete and I know exactly what I was talking about, and why. When the game is on the line, that’s when you have to be on every detail of your assignment. I was a little upset at some of those things. it had nothing to do with Pete. He just happened to be the one that walked up when I was a little angry.”

HOUSTON — — After failing to get a late stop in a loss to the Falcons last week, the Houston Texans got two in the last five minutes on Sunday to secure a victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Rookie C.J. Stroud threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns and the defense did the rest as the Texans held on for the 20-13 win.
“When the game was on the line and we needed it most, guys stepped up,” Houston coach DeMeco Ryans said. “It’s tough to win in this league, but it was awesome to see the way our guys grinded it out and the way they stepped up right there in the end.”
The victory matches Houston’s win total from last season when the team finished 3-13-1.
