In a perfect world Patrick Robinson would be a special team standout and a dime back, and no more.
He’d be taking down opposing punt and kickoff returners, and shadowing receivers on passing downs. He’d be itching to play more snaps, but forced to bide his time and wait his turn because the Saints wouldn’t substantially have need of him defensively.

Wrapping up the New Orleans Saints‘ 30-20 loss against the Arizona Cardinals.
What it means: There are holes in the machine that rolled to a Super Bowl title last season. We had seen some cracks in the first four games, but now a lot of problems have been exposed. Yes, the Saints have some injuries, but that’s no excuse. When you go up against a mediocre Arizona team that’s starting undrafted rookie Max Hall at quarterback and you’ve got Drew Brees, you’ve got some pretty big problems.

A day after the New Orleans Saints’ disappointing 30-20 loss at Arizona in which the offense struggled to find any sustained success, Coach Sean Payton reiterated on Monday that his team needs to play with more consistency.
In a game that started with the Saints looking like they were headed for a big win, they managed to blow a 10-0 lead in the first quarter by imploding with three interceptions, a fumble, a missed 29-yard field-goal attempt, a 25 percent touchdown percentage in the red zone and a handful of untimely penalties

Glendale, Ariz. — It was about as bad for the New Orleans Saints as it could be today.
They couldn’t do anything on offense, they put their defense in terrible position throughout the game, they gave up some crazy touchdowns and they lost to the lowly Arizona Cardinals 30-20.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith won’t play today against the Arizona Cardinals with his groin injury. Jeff Charleston will replace him in the starting lineup, and backup end/linebacker Junior Galette is active for the first time in his career.
Safeties Roman Harper and Pierson Prioleau, meanwhile, are active after being listed as questionable this week.

Let’s continue the flow of great stuff from ESPN Stats & Information with some numbers on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints that I think are pretty interesting.
There’s been a lot of talk about how the Saints haven’t been as productive offensively as they were last year. No argument here. However, there’s one area where Brees and the Saints are really shining.

GLENDALE, ARIZ. — Everyone knows the No. 1 player on the New Orleans Saints wears No. 9.
But who’s the second-best player on the team?
It’s an interesting question, one my colleagues and I have debated often while watching workouts at the team’s Metairie training complex.
Is it Jahri Evans, universally considered the best young offensive guard in the league?
Or Jabari Greer, an underrated shutdown corner who’s revered by scouts.
