Public Service Announcement

Screening Procedures for Spectators

Security screening at Sun Life Stadium will be significantly heightened for the Super Bowl. Many items usually permitted in NFL events will not be allowed into the Super Bowl. The National Football League and the Police Department strongly recommend that spectators minimize the number and size of all items carried into the Stadium.

All items carried by spectators will be carefully inspected and potentially not allowed into the Stadium. Spectators are urged to bring nothing larger than a very small purse or bag. The NFL, Sun Life Stadium and the Miami Dade Police Department will not hold prohibited or excluded items for spectators.

Deke: Saints getting – NO Respect!

Deke Bellavia Reporting

No Respect

No Respect

The late Rodney Dangerfield said it best in his song “Rapping Rodney,” as he got no respect…and down here in South Florida the Saints are in that role. After fifteen wins and a berth in Super Bowl XLIV, Who Dat NationI’m telling youthere are not many who think the Saints can win this game!

Let me take my feelings for the Black and Gold out of this equation for a minute. Why are the Saints doubted more than any other team the Colts have faced this post season? Some members of the media had the Ravens upsetting the Colts in AFC divisional game. Some even picked the rookie QB led New York Jets to knock off the top seeded Colts! But no one-no one I’ve talked to-is picking the Saints.

NFL, Louisiana attorney general settle ‘Who Dat’ misunderstanding

Associated Press

BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana’s attorney general said Monday that shops can sell T-shirts with the phrase “Who Dat” and the fleur-de-lis symbol if they don’t make other references to the New Orleans Saints or the National Football League.

Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said he had a conference call with the NFL’s general counsel to discuss cease-and-desist letters that some Louisiana T-shirt makers received from the league. The letters demanded that the businesses stop selling shirts featuring the phrase that’s part of a popular cheer by Saints fans, citing trademark infringement.

“They’ve conceded and they’ve said they have no intention of claiming the fleur-de-lis, which would be ridiculous, or the ‘Who Dat,’ which would be equally ridiculous,” Caldwell said.

Saints may seem like team of destiny, but Colts have edge

NFL.com

NFL.com’s Vic Carucci (Colts) and Steve Wyche (Saints) provide a Super Bowl XLIV position-by-position breakdown

Drew Brees

This is Drew Brees‘ moment. He has to try hard not to feel that he must be perfect and he has to remain poised. Brees isn’t going to have many opportunities to hit the big play. He will have to extend plays with his legs and regain the accuracy that slipped him in the second half of the NFC title game.

Peyton Manning

Amazingly, Peyton Manning has taken his game to a higher level in the postseason. He overcame a mammoth challenge by solving the New York Jets‘ complicated blitzing in the AFC Championship Game. He faces another difficult task vs. Gregg Williams’ aggressive Saints defense, but there’s no reason to doubt Manning’s ability to rise to the occasion.

The edge goes to Peyton.

Exclusive: Details of the NOLA post-Super Bowl parade and celebraion

Jay Vise Reporting

“Mr. Mardi Gras,” Blaine Kern, today revealed the initial details of the plan to celebrate the Saints’ winning season when they get back from the Super Bowl.

In an exclusive interview with WWL First News, Kern talked about the city’s plans for the big welcome-home celebration for the New Orleans Saints.

“We’re going to do that for the city,” Kern said. “We’ll have a hell of a parade on the streets for the Saints.”

Kern confirmed that the parade will likely start at the Superdome on Tuesday February 9th, and then will trek to his East Bank Mardi Gras World location next to the convention center.

That is where Kern said that the major Saints celebration will take place.

Saints survive media day

By Pat Yasinskas

MIAMI — The interview session with the Saints has just ended at Sun Life Stadium.

I’ve got a tape recorder and a notebook filled with quotes. Saints owner Tom Benson talked for the first time in recent memory. I’ll bring you some highlights of that and lots of other stuff this afternoon when I get to a place where I can write.

Also had a lengthy interview with defensive end Will Smith for a column I’m doing for Friday. Smith is the one prominent New Orleans player who hasn’t really received a lot of attention this year. That’s about to change.

I’ll be back in a bit with lots more.

The story was posted here.

Will Smith is a great player and a great guy, I know we at Whodatnation.com cannot wait to see Pat’s story.  To learn more about Will check out his web site at thewillsmith.com.

Drew Brees uses motivational book as New Orleans Saints’ rallying cry

By Jeff Duncan,
The Times-Picayune

February 02, 2010, 6:00AM FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. –

Dan Green has sold more than 100,000 copies of his motivational book “Finish Strong.”

But one sale in particular changed the fortunes of his burgeoning enterprise.

Green thought it was a cool idea when New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees ordered copies of “Finish Strong” for all of his teammates. Brees distributed the 116-page book, which features inspirational anecdotes about people overcoming adversity in their lives, along with silicone rubber bracelets bearing the message “Finish Strong” to the team on the first day of the offseason conditioning program in April.

At the time, it seemed like a cute little motivational ploy, like Coach Sean Payton’s “don’t-eat-the-cheese” mousetraps or “bring-the-wood” baseball bats.

New Orleans Saints’ motivational speakers enjoying Super Bowl XLIV ride

By Mike Triplett, The Times-Picayune

February 01, 2010, 10:00PM

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. – Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Ronnie Lott could “smell greatness” in the room when he met with the New Orleans Saints during their preseason trip to Oakland, Calif.

Super Bowl-winning coach Jon Gruden was so impressed by what he saw during his visit to Saints training camp that, in his new job as an analyst for ESPN, he predicted that New Orleans would wind up in the Super Bowl six months later.

Former NBA standout player/coach Avery Johnson was equally moved after his visit to Saints camp, so he texted his predictions of “14-2” and “Super Bowl Saints” to all of his family and friends.
